Red, White, and Blue Dots with Tan Woodgrain

A dotted red sentiment with a dotted navy blue print.  At first, I tried a dotted embossing folder on kraft card stock for my card base.  But instead, the woodgrain texture added depth with less distraction.

Card details:

  • Card stock is Essentials by Ellen (Hutson) tan woodgrain and Papertrey Ink (PTI) pure poppy (red) and stamper's select white.
  • Patterned paper is from PTI dark indigo (dark navy) bitty big pattern pack.
  • Die is from PTI double-ended banners (retired).
  • The sentiment "thanks" is from PTI polka dot parade #6 (retired), stamped with PTI pure poppy ink.

Leaflet Trio for Thanksgiving

I made a few Thanksgiving cards in August.  Of course, gratitude is always in season!

The card has layers of autumn color, with texture from an embossing folder and a few strands of embroidery floss.  The ink has some sparkle - just sparkle, no glitter to fall off.

Card details:

  • Card stock is Paper Source poppy (light orange) and Papertrey Ink (PTI) spring moss (light green) and prairie grass (medium green).
  • Embossing folder is Darice vine background.
  • Embroidery floss is DMC 611 (green), 722 (light orange), and 920 (rusty red).
  • Dies are PTI take three (frame window die - retired) and PTI keep it simple: frames (banner - retired).  I trimmed away three edges of the orange banner to layer it on the green.
  • The sentiment "Happy Thanksgiving" is from PTI give thanks, stamped with PTI terracotta tile (rusty red) ink, then restamped with Tsukineko Delicata celestial copper ink, which made the ink color a bit more orange and added the glitter-free sparkle.

A tree with bright autumn leaves, inlaid in pale blue.  The bird, bow, and word match the leaf colors.  I added an embossed texture to the bow and the tree trunk.

Red, White, and Blue Rays with Aqua

Today's card started with a 6 x 6" piece of patterned paper that I cut into three 2" strips.  I used the center strip for the card above, and an edge strip for the card below.  The "rustic" flecked card stock of the sentiment banner works well with the distressed style of the patterned paper.  Yellow-orange brightens the muted red, white, and blue color scheme.

Card details:

  • Card stock is Paper Source pool (aqua) and Papertrey Ink (PTI) summer sunrise (yellow-orange) and rustic cream.
  • Patterned paper is Bo Bunny firecracker 6 x 6" pad (retired).
  • Embossing folder is Darice stars asst. (assorted).
  • Die is from PTI double-ended banners (sentiment banner - retired)
  • The sentiment "thank you so very much" is from PTI banner sentiments (retired), stamped with PTI dark indigo (dark navy) ink.

Green Stems on Light Blue

A few leafy green stems on light blue, layered with muted teal and deep yellow-green.  A diagonal placement of one layer adds interest.  I tried a longer strip of dotted paper under the sentiment label, but the short one looked better to me.

Card details:

  • Card stock is Stampin' Up soft sky (light blue) and Papertrey Ink (PTI) ocean tides (muted teal), ripe avocado (deep yellow-green), and rustic white.
  • Patterned paper is the from PTI spring moss (light green) pattern pack (tone-on-tone prints - retired).
  • Die is from PTI framed out #7 (retired).
  • The sentiment "thank you" is from PTI through the trees (retired), and the stems are from PTI life and PTI larger than life (both retired), stamped with PTI ripe avocado and simply chartreuse (medium yellow-green) inks, with some new leaf (green) ink on some leaves.

Red, White, and Blue - Thank Yous with Red Plaid

Today's card started with the lined notebook patterned paper.  Its gray lines and linen texture look faint in my image, but can be seen better in real life.  I stamped it with red and blue "thank you" sentiments in various fonts, then cut it with a pinking edge die.  The dark blue strip helps anchor it and gives the eye a resting place.

I had planned to place my panel vertically on the red plaid, but then I noticed how good it looked where it fell at an angle. A happy accident!  Diagonals often seem to add energy to my card designs.

Card details:

  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) enchanted evening (dark blue).
  • Patterned papers are a plaid from PTI pure poppy (red) bitty big pattern pack and a gray-lined notebook paper from PTI pencil me in A2 paper collection (lined linen-texture paper - retired).
  • Die is from PTI noted: pinked A2 vertical.
  • The "thank you" sentiments are from PTI keep it simple: thank you (retired) and keep it simple: thank you II (retired), stamped with PTI pure poppy and enchanted evening inks.
