Cardinal on Green Wreath - Two Cards

Bright and bold for a winter birthday.  Also a "hello" version, an encouragement card for some of our church members. 

Card details:

• Card stock is Paper Source spruce (green) and Papertrey Ink (PTI) pure poppy (red).
• Patterned paper is from PTI spring rain (light blue) tone-on-tone prints - retired (leaf) and bitty big (plaid) pattern packs.
• Dies are from PTI winter woods (cardinal - retired), PTI/ Ink to Paper xo heart frames (wreath), Memory Box hello rush script, and Elizabeth Craft happy birthday #783. 
• The horizontal branch is a 3/16" strip of card stock.   
• I used an old office supply 1/4" hole punch to cut the red dots.   
• The cardinal's detail is stamped with PTI true black ink.

Goldfinch with Black and White Dots

Strong contrast gives interest to this monochromatic card.  

Card details:

• Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) stamper's select white.
  
• Patterned paper is from PTI lemon tart (light yellow) pattern pack (tone-on-tone prints - retired) and true black bitty big pattern pack.
• Die is from PTI spring woods (retired).
• The bird is from PTI spring woods (retired), and the sentiment "happy birthday" is from PTI little labels (retired), stamped with PTI bright buttercup (deep yellow) ink and Versafine onyx black ink.

Doily with Red Heart or Blue Bird

Two cards with the same simple design.  Silver shimmery card base, with half of a white doily, a strip of dotted paper, and a bird or heart as focal point.  I like them both. 

Card details:

• Card stock is Neenah solar white, Paper Source royal blue, and Papertrey Ink (PTI) pure poppy (red) and silver shimmer. 
• Patterned paper is from PTI smokey shadow (dark gray) pattern pack (tone-on-tone prints - retired) and PTI blueberry sky (medium blue) "+ white basics" patterned paper (retired). 
• Dies are from PTI heart prints (retired), peace be still (dove), and Parisian lace doily (retired).  I used half of a doily on each card.  
• I used a McGill 1/16" circle punch for the birds' eye.

Sunshine with Aqua and Brown

I liked the diagonal layout of this card from last month, so I tried it with some polka-dotted paper.  Very simple with a bright "sunshine" word, sun, bird, and bow. 

Card details:

• Card stock is Hero Arts cerulean (turquoise) layering paper, Stampin' Up soft sky (light aqua), and Papertrey Ink (PTI) sun shimmer (yellow) and dark chocolate (brown). 
• Patterned paper is from Pink & Main pumpkin spice 6 x 6" pad (retired).
• Dies are from PTI heart-2-heart #9 (bird), PTI flower fusion #9 (sun - retired), and Frantic Stamper sunshine.
  
• I used a Martha Stewart punch for the bow.  
• I added the bird's eye with a brown Micron pen.

Blue Shimmer with Birds

Shimmer card stock with birds, hearts, and floral background texture for an anniversary card.  The "love" word die repeats the heart shape.

Card details:

• Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) sea shimmer (turquoise blue), raspberry shimmer (pink), and sun shimmer (yellow).
• Embossing folder is Sizzix berry splash.
• Dies are PTI hearts border (retired), heart-2-heart #9, and wonderful words: love.
• I used a McGill 1/16" circle punch for the birds' eyes. 
• On the inside (not shown), the script sentiment "happy anniversary" is from Hero Arts everyday sayings (retired), stamped with PTI true black ink.

Goldfinch with Multicolor Dots on Orange

For this cheerful card, I chose a bright goldfinch and a patterned paper strip of multicolored dots.  The light orange base gives it a touch of autumn for an October anniversary.

• Card stock is Paper Source poppy (light orange) and Papertrey Ink (PTI) new leaf (green) and stamper's select white. 
• Patterned paper is from Reverse Confetti cue the confetti 6x6" pad (retired). 
• Dies are from PTI spring woods and Savvy Stamps tall branches with leaves.
• The sentiment "happy anniversary" is from PTI keep it simple: anniversary, and the bird is from PTI spring woods, stamped with PTI bright buttercup (yellow) ink and Versafine onyx black pigment ink.

Goldfinch on Green - Sympathy

A softly monochrome green background with a bright bird.  A hopeful combination for this sympathy card.

• Card stock is Paper Source spruce (their older, discontinued version - dark green) and Papertrey Ink (PTI) leaf shimmer (light green) and stamper's select white. 
• Patterned paper is unknown, from the "free" table at our monthly card making group.
  
• Dies are from PTI spring woods, Elizabeth Craft "with sympathy" (retired), and My Favorite Things grande greenery - solid.
  
• The bird is from PTI spring woods, stamped with PTI bright buttercup (yellow) ink and Versafine onyx black pigment ink.

Goldfinch on Aqua Circle

Simple and elegant.  The knotted twine was the finishing touch that it needed.  

Note: the gray border is background, not part of the card.

Card details:

• Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) new leaf (green) and stamper's select white. 
• My stencil material is Yupo paper, cut with a backing of Xyron repositionable adhesive, using a 2-5/8" circle from Spellbinders standard circles small die collection.  I used the e.l.f total face brush to apply PTI aqua mist ink.
• Twine is PTI true black baker's twine.  I used a 1/8" hole punch to notch the top and botttom of the card.
  
• Dies are from PTI spring woods and Savvy Stamps tall branches with leaves.
  
• The bird is from PTI spring woods, and the sentiment "thinking of you" is from PTI sentiment staples: thinking of you, stamped with PTI smokey shadow (dark gray) and summer sunrise (yellow-orange) inks.

Star Frame with Banner

Two cheerful cards with a bright center panel.  The original card (above) has a star frame and banner, and for a birthday version (below), I added a bird and some star accents to the banner.

Bright Scene with Fence, Birds, and Cat

Small die cuts arranged for a summery scene.  I like the bright colors and the wood grain texture of the white fence.

• Card stock is Essentials by Ellen white woodgrain, Paper Source royal blue, and Papertrey Ink (PTI) spring rain (light blue), vintage jadeite (light green), canyon clay (orangey brown), hibiscus burst (pink), and bright buttercup (yellow). 
• Dies are from Paper Smooches silhouette flowers (retired), Impression Obsession cat set, Impression Obsession small bird set, PTI picket fence, and PTI ad sense (sun shape). 
• Bow punch is Martha Stewart bow.
• I used a brown Micron pen to add the cat's eyes and a Copic G14 (green) marker to color the flower stems.
  
• The sentiment "just a note to say hello" is from PTI banner sentiments (retired), stamped with PTI new leaf (green) ink.

Red Bird with Green Leaves

Yesterday's card left me with some squares of green, the scrap cuts from the triple frame die.  I used them to cut the leaves for today's card.  The red bird and "hello" brighten my dark blue and kraft panel.

Yellow Birds on Aqua Print

A birthday card with bright contrast of yellow with aqua, white, and teal.  The pierced dots and printed stripes add some visual texture.

Red Birds on Gray Birch Trees

A few bright red birds on some tall gray birch trees.  A striped texture on the card base adds to the tree effect, and a red rectangle anchors the scene.

• Embossing folder is Sizzix Tim Holtz stripes.

Bird on Light Green

Soft and simple with a bird perched on a strip of patterned paper.  In real life, the stamped bird stands out well against the textured background.

Two Birds on Wreath

Two birds stamped in similar color combinations.  I like the light green and tan against the deeper blue background.  I could have put a sentiment somewhere, but the layout didn't need one.

Wreath on Yellow with Bird

After I made my earlier wreath card, I tried it with brighter greens for the wreaths, the same greens shown above.  Then I had pieces of two yellowish greens (shown on the earlier card) and today's two brighter greens, left over from the inside of the large wreath die.  So I used the set's small wreath die to make another wreath card with my green leftovers, with the inner portion inlaid into the wreath shape.  Above is one of the color combinations I tried.  I like the little bird on the little wreath with the big sentiment!

Some sunny colors for today's card!  I like the small bird accents.  A bit of whimsy comes from the diagonal panel placement.

Red Birds on Trees with Yellow

The stamped trees with die cut birds make a cheerful scene on light blue.  I don't often use a double mat, but here, the dark gray and red look good together.  I tried a red "thanks" instead of the dark gray, but it seemed to pull my eye away from the scene.

Three versions of the same birds on trees, with different details and color schemes.  Card A is a bright and cheerful note card.  I adapted it with seasonal colors for two family anniversaries - autumn (B) and winter (C).  I like them all, but card B might be my favorite.

The patterned papers add some visual texture to the tree trunk and leaves.  The teal bird and sentiment add a bright accent to the muted aqua, green, and brown colors.
