Bird on Light Green with Brown

A bright and cheerful scene with unconventional sky and leaf colors.  I like the energy of the strong color contrasts and the swirling background. 

Card details:

• Card stock is Paper Source sage (light green),  Papertrey Ink (PTI) melon berry (light orange), terra cotta tile (deep rust red), dark chocolate (brown), and leaf print from PTI dark chocolate pattern pack.
• Embossing folder is Cuttlebug d'vine swirls.
• Dies are PTI eyelet lace, PTI number the stars banner, WPlus9 folk art florals (retired - bird), and Lifestyle Crafts nesting petals (retired - flower).  
• The bird's eye is colored with Copic 0.3 brown multiliner.
• I used an EK Success 5/16" punch for the flower center.
• The sentiment "just a note" is from PTI keep it simple: just a note, stamped with PTI dark chocolate ink cube.

Gray, Navy, and Aqua with Circles

A handsome card with circles (embossed and printed) and a diagonal panel for the sentiment.  The touches of aqua add some brightness to the gray and navy.

Card details:

• Card stock is Stampin' Up soft sky (aqua), Papertrey Ink (PTI) dark indigo (navy) and stormy sea (medium gray), and a print from Carta Bella 12 x 12" all bundled up/ snowflake swirl.
• The gray is embossed with PTI cover plate: circles.
• The "thanks" word is cut with Silhouette Cameo, the same as this card.

Aqua Panels with Brown Frame

I wrestled with my card design till I tried a diagonal placement for the frame, taken from Laurie Willison's card posted here (the last card in her post).  And it went smoothly from there.  I'm very happy with the result.  Thank you, Laurie, for your inspiration!

Sunshine with Aqua Dots

Bright stamped sun rays and a small die cut sun shape.  I like the bright yellow colors with the aqua and teal.

• Dies are PTI double-ended banners, PTI ad sense, and Spellbinders labels one (largest label).
• The white label shape is edged with Copic marker BG49.
• The sentiment "sending sunshine" is from PTI keep it simple: encouragement, stamped with PTI tropical teal ink cube. The sun rays are from PTI shine, stamped with PTI bright buttercup and summer sunrise (yellow orange) ink cubes.

Blue Floral Print with Red and White

Several shades of blue, accented with red and white stripes, a red frame, and a narrow white border.   I like the overall monochromatic look with the sparks of bright red.

• Card stock is Neenah solar white, Papertrey Ink (PTI) spring rain (light blue), blueberry sky (medium blue), pure poppy (red), a striped print from PTI pure poppy "+ white basics" patterned paper, and a floral print from Pebbles Americana 6 x 6" pad.
• Dies are My Favorite Things vertical stitched strips, PTI pinking shears border, and PTI keep it simple frames.  Note: the patterned paper edge is pinked and layered over a plain white strip.
• The sentiment "just because" is from PTI keep it simple: just because, stamped with PTI enchanted evening (dark blue) ink cube.

Pine Branch on White, with Bird

Two cards with a pine branch stamped on white.  A die-cut, stamped bluejay (above) or cardinal (below) adds a bit of dimension.  Simple and serene.

• Corners are rounded with Crop-a-Dile 1/4" corner chomper.

Turquoise Sun with Dots

When I made these sunshine cards, I inlaid the deep yellow sun into the turquoise card front - leaving me with some "scrap" turquoise sun shapes.  The scrap is featured in today's card, with a variety of stamped, embossed, and die-cut dots.  There's a nice energy and contrast in the shapes and colors.  And I do love using my leftovers!

Card details:

• Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) Hawaiian shores (turquoise), orange zest, tropical teal (for the inlaid star), stamper's select white, and an unknown leather-textured dark green (a few sheets given to me by a cardmaking friend).
• Dies are PTI what the doodle: sun, stitched rectangles, and stitched circles.
• The turquoise sun is embossed with a die from PTI stitched circles.
• I used a Fiskars 1/4" star punch for the tiny inlaid teal star.
• The sentiment "hello" is from PTI polka dot parade #2, stamped with PTI tropical teal ink cube.

Gold Diamonds and Red Squares

The subtle colors in the patterned paper became a bold, rich color scheme for my card.  I like the diamonds, squares, and stripes with the flowing script of "hello."

• Embossing folder is Lifestyle Crafts diamonds and dots.
• Dies are Savvy Stamps hello and the inner "scrap" cuts from My Favorite Things retro squares border (retired).  The border was used on this card.

Two Cards with Circle Border Strips

I used the circle border strip in two color combinations with similar layouts.  Although I like them both, the one above is my favorite.  And the circles die (Papertrey Ink simple circles border) had been on my wish list for many months, so I'm glad I finally put it in my shopping cart!

• Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) enchanted evening (dark blue - above), pure poppy (red - below), fine linen (tan), stamper's select white, and damask and polka dot prints from PTI simply chartreuse (green - above) and Hawaiian shores (turquoise - below) pattern packs. 
• Dies are PTI double-ended banners and simple circles border. 
• Embossing folder (above) is Sizzix texture fades stripes.  The card below is embossed with Dreamweaver faux cross-stitch stencil screen, as explained in this post.
• The sentiment "just because" is from PTI keep it simple: just because, stamped with PTI simply chartreuse (green) and a touch of ripe avocado (dark green) (above) and tropical teal (below) ink cubes.

A few rustic stars and a few brown colors.  Almost monochromatic, and very handsome in real life.

White Frame with Red, Blue, and Yellow Panels

A set of three cheerful cards with red, blue, and yellow panels set in a white frame.  Note: the gray border is background, not part of the card.

Card details:

• Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) pure poppy (red), summer sunrise (yellow), enchanted evening (blue), stamper's select white, and three prints from PTI in bloom 8 x 8" patterned paper.
• Dies are PTI cover plate: comic strip, pencil blooms, and wonderful words: hello.
• For the flower centers, instead of the pencil blooms center (which completely fills the center hole), I used my old 1/4" hole punch to leave a bit of the background visible.

Sunshine - Sun and Clouds on Turquoise

Beautiful bright colors with a sunny sentiment.  And a bit more sunshine from the shape I used to dot the "i".

Card details:

• Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) lemon tart (light yellow), bright buttercup (deep yellow), Hawaiian shores (turquoise), and stamper's select white.
• Dies are PTI sunshine (word) with clouds and layered sun from PTI what the doodle: sun.  I used a tiny sun shape from PTI star gazer for the sun's center and the i's dot.  The background layer of the sun is inlaid into the turquoise for less bulk, also giving me some turquoise cutouts to use for flowers on another card.
• The first part of the sentiment "sending you" is from PTI simple sunflower, stamped with PTI tropical teal ink cube.

Red Angled Stripes with Blue and White

The red angled stripes have a bit of an "op art" feeling. Crisp and simple with some blue and white accents.

• The eyelet strip is from Doodlebug paper frills, lily white, discontinued.
• Arrow die is from PTI sketched shapes, inset with a tiny star punched with Fiskars 1/4" star punch.
• The word "thanks" is cut with Silhouette Cameo.  It's the same design I used for the top card here.

Sunshine Bouquet

I set out to use my dies with their coordinating stamps, then found that I love them as stand-alone shapes.  Set on the yellow patterned paper, the flowers look to me like a bright bouquet of sunshine.  I'm hoping this card will bring some sunny cheer to the recipient.

Green layers with a variety of texture and pattern.  I like this one a lot!

• Embossing folder is the sun ray folder from Lifestyle Crafts/ WeRMemoryKeepers stripe set (may be retired.)
• Embroidery floss is DMC #730 using 3 of the 6 strands of thread.  My uneven stitching is intentional.
• Dies are PTI notched star banner, PTI stitching lines, and Impression Obsession thankful.
