Brown Stenciled Blocks with Mug

Brown and tan colors with a touch of gold.  I used the stencil to emboss the background and then add color with sponging.  The die cut asterisk works well as an accent for the mug, and I used a Copic marker to add the dark brown details.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Neenah solar white and Papertrey Ink (PTI) canyon clay (orange-brown), dark chocolate (brown), fine linen (tan), and luxe gold.
  • Stencil is from PTI modern background collection.  See this post for my embossing sandwich and warnings.  I used PTI dark chocolate, canyon clay, and classic kraft ink cubes for my sponging.
  • Note:  when the card stock is embossed first before sponging, the raised areas help to hold the stencil in place, and also a soft touch is needed to glide the inky sponge over the surface without getting too dark.
  • Dies are PTI warm happiness (mug) and the asterisk from block alphabet numbers.  I layered a partial die cut under the top half of the mug to keep it raised up above the sentiment strip.
  • Mug details are drawn with Copic 0.3 brown multiliner and colored with E29 marker.
  • The sentiment "sending a warm hello" is computer printed with orange-brown ink and a brown outline, using Hobo Std font
