Blues with Orangey Brown Damask

Lots of swirls and curlicues today - a script embossing folder, a flowing script sentiment, and an ornate damask patterned paper.  Though I like the colors, the card overall might work better with a spring or summer palette.  Another day, maybe!

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) spring rain (light blue) and enchanted evening (dark blue).
  • Patterned paper is from PTI canyon clay (orangey brown) pattern pack (tone-on-tone prints - retired).
  • Embossing folder is The Paper Studio script (retired).
  • Die is PTI big basics: thinking of you.

Butterfly with Orange and Yellow Stenciled Background

My card today was created for the Papertrey Ink (PTI) "win it Wednesday" challenge to use a favorite color combination with two or more colors of PTI ink.  I chose PTI orange zest and harvest gold (yellow) inks for my stenciled background.

I'm very happy with the stenciled background.  I offset it on the orange panel and placed the butterfly off-center to add some energy and movement toward the orange sentiment.  Thanks, PTI, for this week's challenge to inspire me!

Card details:
  • Card stock is PTI harvest gold, orange zest, and stamper's select white.
  • Patterned paper is the bitty dot print from PTI orange zest pattern pack (tone-on-tone prints - retired).  In real life, its orange color matches the ink and card stock.
  • Stencil is from PTI stencil basics: diamonds, sponged with PTI orange zest ink, using the round Ranger ink blending tool to apply the ink. I also sponged PTI harvest gold ink through the Dreamweaver faux cross-stitch stencil screen (retired) to add an uneven yellow dot pattern.
  • Die is from PTI life is beautiful (small butterfly - retired).
  • The sentiment "sending sunshine" is from PTI keep it simple: encouragement (retired), stamped with PTI orange zest ink.

Bird and Branch on Green and Yellow Grid

I stamped the grid pattern in light green, then turned it 180ยบ in the MISTI to restamp in yellow.  The small stamping offset makes a nice plaid background for my yellow and green bird and branch with flowers.  In real life, the different greens all look nice together.

Pink Print with Navy and Gray

I've always liked bright pink with navy and with gray, and I used both for this card.  The arrow gives focus to the sentiment on this very simple layout.  The sentiment font, wavy triangle print, and arrow all contribute to a bit of a modern vibe.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) dark indigo (dark navy) and weathervane (gray).
  • Patterned paper is from Reverse Confetti paper bliss 6 x 6" pad.
  • Die is from PTI sketched shapes.
  • The sentiment "just a note to say hello" is from PTI textile impressions (retiring), stamped with PTI enchanted evening (dark blue) ink- the dark indigo ink looked too gray when stamped on the gray card stock.
