Red, White, and Blue Stripes on Red Dots

Just a few layered pieces ... offset rectangles, stripes on dots, and a wide banner.  Normally I don't mix white with cream, but I happened to have a cream banner that I tried for size, and I really liked how it looked with the red, white, and blue stripes.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) dark indigo (dark navy) and vintage cream.
  • Patterned papers are a bitty dot print from PTI pure poppy (red) pattern pack (tone-on-tone prints - retired) and a stripe print from Pebbles Americana 6x6" paper pad.
  • Die is from PTI sketched shapes.
  • The sentiment "thinking of you" is from PTI keep it simple: thinking of you, and the star is from PTI military stars (retired), stamped with PTI terra cotta tile (rusty red) and blueberry sky (blue) ink cubes.

Blue with Purple on Gray

Experimenting with a grid background stamp.  Using the MISTI, I stamped the blue grid, then shifted my card stock a bit more than 1/8" up and right to stamp the purple grid.  I love the simple plaid pattern it creates.  I added some curved and diagonal elements in the same colors, on a light gray background.  I like it a lot!

Yellow Stars with Brown and Rusty Red

Bright yellow stars with some deep brown and rusty red accents.  The stenciled airbrushing (with two shades of yellow) makes a softly variegated look, while the embossed star outlines are crisp and clear.

Grid Stamped Tags - Kraft and Burgundy

A monochromatic card in white, tan, and kraft with burgundy accents.  The striped paper helps to anchor the sentiment, while the angled tags and strings add movement.

My design with the grid-stamped tags was inspired by the first card in this post.  Thank you, Michelle, for all of your inspiration!

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) classic kraft, fine linen (light tan), scarlet jewel (burgundy), and stamper's select white.
  • Patterned paper is from PTI scarlet jewel bitty big pattern pack.
  • Embroidery floss is DMC #902.
  • Die is from PTI tag sale #7.
  • I cut the tag hole reinforcement with EK Success 3/16" and 1/2" circle punches.
  • The sentiment "a note to say hello" is from PTI textile impressions (retiring), and the grid pattern is PTI cover up: grid, stamped with PTI classic kraft and scarlet jewel ink cubes

Multicolor Circle Grids - Muted and Bright

To make these multicolor cards, I cut the circle grids from six each of muted colors (above) and bright colors (below).  After inlaying the circle cuts, I had twelve cards, each with a different background color and five assorted circle colors.  It was a fun way to make a batch of cards!  Most will be sent to our church shut-ins, with a few extras for Operation: Quiet Comfort

Card details:
  • Card stock (muted version) is Papertrey Ink (PTI) cocoa bean (brown), Americana (rustic red), prairie grass (green), canyon clay (orangey brown), honey nut (golden brown), ocean tides (muted teal), and vintage cream.
  • Card stock (bright version) is Papertrey Ink (PTI) harvest gold (yellow), lilac grace, vintage jadeite (green), hibiscus burst (pink), melon berry (light orange), blueberry sky (blue), and stamper's select white.
  • Dies are PTI cover plate: circles, double-ended banners (muted version), and sketched shapes (bright version).
  • For the muted version, the sentiment "thinking of you" is from PTI keep it simple: thinking of you (top left) or Hero Arts everyday sayings (top right), stamped with PTI prairie grass ink cube.
  • For the bright version, the sentiment and flower are from Hero Arts everyday sayings, stamped with PTI hibiscus burst ink cube.  I added yellow and green to the flower with colored pencils.

Green Topiary Tree

This card started with some leftover strips of rustic white card stock.  It was a good challenge for me to create a design for the long narrow space.  I'm very happy with the result!

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) green parakeet (bright yellow-green) and rustic white.
  • Patterned paper is the bitty dot print from PTI new leaf (green) pattern pack (tone-on-tone prints - retired).
  • Embroidery floss is DMC #920.  I pierced holes just outside the bitty dot layer and used two wraps of three threads each, knotted.
  • The tree pot and stem are from PTI everyday button bits (retired), stamped with PTI classic kraft and terra cotta tile (rusty red) ink cubes.
  • The horizontal line is drawn with Copic 0.3 sepia multiliner.
  • The green circles are from PTI bits & buttons (retired), stamped with PTI new leaf (for the plaid circles) and green parakeet (for the solid circles layered on top of the plaid) ink cubes
  • The sentiment "thinking of you" is from PTI stuck on you, stamped with PTI new leaf ink cube.
