Layered Leaf Panel on Aqua

When I was working on yesterday's card, I cut the leaf panels in two additional greens that I didn't use.  This card has both of them, layered and offset, for a shadow effect over a soft aqua.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Paper Source spruce (their older, discontinued version - dark green) and Papertrey Ink (PTI) new leaf (medium green) and aqua mist.
  • Patterned paper is from PTI aqua mist pattern pack (tone-on-tone prints - retired).
  • Die is PTI mix & mat: pinked edge.

Leaf Panel - Bright Yellow Green with Teal

After making the blue and green alcohol ink background, I tried a few different colors for my leaves and card base.  This bright yellow green with teal seems to enhance the summertime glow of the sky between the leaves.

Blue Cup on Dotted Red Strip

A blue cup sitting on a dotted red strip for a tabletop.  I wanted a sentiment to use with my cup, mug, and teapot dies, so I bought a stamp set with "warmest wishes" in a few different fonts. It will work well for my Operation: Quiet Comfort cards, with a note inside such as "sending prayers and warmest wishes for your healing and recovery."

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) blueberry sky (medium blue), dark indigo (dark navy), and stamper's select white.
  • Patterned paper is from PTI pure poppy (red) bitty big pattern pack.
  • Embossing folder is Stampin' Up subtle.
  • Die is from PTI warm happiness (retired).
  • I added the cup's details with a Copic 0.5 cobalt multiliner.  I traced along the die for the base line, used an ellipse template for the top oval, and drew the handle lines freehand.
  • The sentiment "warmest wishes" is from PTI sentiment staples: warmest wishes, stamped with PTI pure poppy ink.

Green Plaid with Wreath on Teal

Today's card is built on a pre-printed plaid template - the large pinked white circle with dotted border is part of the printed design.  To finish the card, I added layers - a pinked teal circle and a plain white circle with a stamped wreath and sentiment.

The patterned paper pack included a few different colors, so I used the same wreath element on a teal pinked circle with the red plaid and on a red pinked circle with the turquoise plaid.  I like the colorful, cheerful result.

Purple with Banner

Though I love purple as a color, somehow it's been difficult for me to use with cards, aside from flowers and butterflies.  So when I saw a pad of patterned paper with lots of purple in not-flowery multicolor designs, it seemed like a good way to get more purple into my card making.  I enjoyed working with today's zigzag print with green, turquoise, purple, black, and orange, and my finished card is bright and happy.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Paper Source poppy (light orange) and Papertrey Ink (PTI) new leaf (green), plum pudding (purple), and Hawaiian shores (turquoise)
  • Patterned paper is from Pink & Main not too spooky 6 x 6" paper pad.  Though it's meant for Halloween, there's a nice variety of stripes, plaids, and geometric designs that are not limited to one occasion.
  • Dies are My Favorite Things party banner (retired) and Elizabeth Craft thanks.

Dark Gray Damask Print with Turquoise

I don't use much gray or black on my cards.  Even for sentiments, I'll usually choose a color.  But my last four cards have gray backgrounds, and I've enjoyed making them.

Today's card has an elegant mix of curves and lines with the damask print, layered frame, stitched panel, and dotted sentiment border.  Against the busy pattern, the bright turquoise elements make a strong focal point for my small "thank you" sentiment.

 Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) smokey shadow (dark gray), Hawaiian shores (turquoise), and stamper's select white.
  • Patterned paper is from PTI smokey shadow pattern pack (tone-on-tone prints - retired).
  • Dies are from My Favorite Things vertical stitched strips (retired), PTI fabulous frames (retired), and PTI framed out #2.
  • The sentiment "thank you" with a dotted border is from Fiskars so much thanks (retired), stamped with PTI smokey shadow ink.

Leaves on Light Gray with Muted Teal Stripes

When I made this card design last year, I stamped a handful of extra die cuts.  Today's card made good use of them.  The light gray gives a restful space for the busy arrangement of leaves and stripes.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Neenah solar white and Papertrey Ink (PTI) spring moss (light green), simply chartreuse (medium green), ripe avocado (dark green), and soft stone (light gray).
  • Patterned paper is from PTI ocean tides (muted teal) pattern pack (tone-on-tone prints - retired).
  • Dies are from PTI leave it be (retiring).
  • The solid and detail leaf stamps are from PTI leave it be (retired), stamped with PTI spring moss, simply chartreuse, ripe avocado, and cocoa bean (brown) inks.

Green, Gray, and Blue Pattern with Notched Border

The gray, green, and deep blue colors in today's card, as well as the notched shapes of the green border and the sentiment label, were suggested by this handsome patterned paper.  I tried a few different grays and dark blues for my card base, and I chose the very dark gray for its contrast and drama.  The narrow blue edging, echoing the blue of the print, makes a big impact to ground the label.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Paper Source jade (medium green - retired) and Papertrey Ink (PTI) smokey shadow (dark gray) and stamper's select white.
  • Patterned paper is from Reverse Confetti paper bliss 6 x 6" pad.
  • Dies are from My Favorite Things notched border (retired) and layered labels (retired).
  • I edged the white label shape with Copic marker B39.
  • The sentiment "thank you" is from Sunny Studio everyday greetings, stamped with PTI vintage jadeite (bright medium green) and spring rain (light blue) inks.  The combined color works well with the green of the patterned paper and card stock.

Hexagons with Teal, Tan, and Cream

Today's card began with the patterned paper, which gave me the color scheme and the hexagon theme.  The sentiment fits nicely on my hexagon die cut, and I like the wide teal borders to set off the shape.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Paper Source peacock (teal) and Papertrey Ink (PTI) fine linen (tan) and rustic cream.
  • Patterned paper is from Basic Grey fact (retired) 6 x 6" pad.
  • Embossing folder is Darice honeycomb.
  • Die is from PTI two toned.
  • The sentiment "sending sincere thanks" is from PTI thank you kindly (retired), stamped with PTI blueberry sky (medium blue) and tropical teal inks to match the bluer teal of the peacock card stock.
