Sunshine Vine with Blue Scalloped Mat

Bright sunshiny flowers on a sky blue panel with a sunny yellow print background.  Perfect for our gray rainy weather today.  The flowers and butterfly draw attention to the sentiment oval, with the vine's diagonal placement adding some energy and movement.

Floral Sprigs on Purple Stripes with Green

A colorful floral card.  The pine sprigs (from a Christmas set) looked like feathery blooms to me, so I stamped them in pinks and purples.  I like the graceful flow of the sentiment with the sprig clusters.  My two-toned stamping was easily done with the help of the MISTI.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) rustic white, new leaf (medium green), and stripes from PTI plum pudding (purple) pattern pack (retired).
  • The sentiment "thank you" is from PTI keep it simple: thank you, stamped with PTI raspberry fizz (pink) and scarlet jewel (burgundy) ink cubes.
  • The sprigs are from PTI tinsel & tags sprigs (retired), stamped with PTI amethyst allure (purple), new leaf, limeade ice (yellow-green), raspberry fizz, and scarlet jewel ink cubes.

Stripes and Rickrack - Red, White, and Blue with Kraft

My card today is for Papertrey Ink's monthly Create Along with Us challenge.  I chose Nichole Heady's colorful striped design, the second card posted here.  Instead of a gap in the striped panel, I covered my seam with a white rickrack die cut.  Though I made several changes, it's easy to see the origins of my card!  Thank you, Nichole, for your inspiration!

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) dark indigo (navy), classic kraft, pure poppy (red), blueberry sky (medium blue), and stamper's select white.
  • Twine is by WeRMemoryKeepers.
  • Dies are PTI wonderful words: hello and XL rickrack border.
  • Top and bottom right corners are rounded with Crop-a-Dile 1/2" corner chomper.  The rounding is smooth in real life, not cropped like my image.

Scene with Tree and Fence

A cheerful summery card with a leafy tree and white fence.  I enjoyed creating my scene with all its details.  The brown and white elements, forming visual triangles, help to keep the eye moving and bring attention to the "hello" sentiment.

Speckled Chevrons - Purple and Blue with Teal

A simple layout with an interesting background and a multicolored sentiment.

After stenciling the blue and purple chevrons, I added some speckles of teal ink.  My past experiments with other techniques for ink spatters were not successful, but this time I used Vicki Finger's technique, as described in this post on her Twinkling Paper Studio blog.  It worked beautifully for me, and I'm really happy with the results.

Thank you, Vicki, for sharing the secrets of your lovely speckled backgrounds!

Frames and Banner with Stars and Chevrons

Red, white, and blue in a cheerfully eccentric layout.  I like the bright energy of the red frames and banner with the busy star and chevron prints.  The plain kraft background gives my eye a bit of a resting place.

Green Leaf Print on Cream with Brown

Simple and elegant with two patterned papers.  The colors work well together.   Stripes of embroidery floss pick up the tan background pattern, and a diagonal script word softens the formal wallpaper look.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) dark chocolate (brown), prairie grass (muted green), stripe print from PTI fine linen (tan) pattern pack (retired), and leaf print from PTI turning a new leaf 8 x 8" pad (retired).
  • Embroidery floss is DMC #839.
  • Die is PTI big basics: thanks.

Sunflowers on Yellow with Aqua Dots

With a few leftover pieces of yellow card stock from my project posted yesterday, I decided to stamp some sunflower cards in my usual A2 size.  And I made a curved sentiment for this week's Make It Monday challenge on Nichole Heady's Capture the Moment blog, curving a sentiment that would normally be straight.  Thank you, Ashley and Nichole, for inspiring me to use this technique today!

Note: the orange ink looks less red in real life.
