Sunshine with Birds - Orange and Turquoise

Some sunny colors for today's card!  I like the small bird accents.  A bit of whimsy comes from the diagonal panel placement.

Card details:

  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) Hawaiian shores (turquoise), harvest gold (yellow), and orange zest.
  • Patterned papers are a gingham from PTI Hawaiian shores pattern pack (tone-on-tone prints - retired) and a mottled orange print from Craft Smith flower market 12 x 12" collection.
  • Dies are from PTI big basics: sunshine and heart-2-heart #9 (retiring).
  • The birds' eyes are dots of Copic black 0.3 multiliner.

Stars with Purple, Orange, and Green

I've enjoyed using a Halloween color scheme for some non-Halloween cards.  On this one, I chose a few bright colors from the star pattern.  I like the curved script font with the straight lines of the stars, stripes, and orange border.  The white "thanks" stands out well in its green and purple setting.

Card details:

  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) orange zest, new leaf (green), and stamper's select white.
  • Patterned papers are a striped print from PTI plum pudding (purple) pattern pack (tone-on-tone prints - retired) and a star print from Pink & Main not too spooky (retired) 6 x 6" paper pad.
  • Dies are from PTI huge thanks.

Textures and patterns give energy to the simple layout in red, white, and blue on kraft.

  • I made the striped paper in PowerPoint and computer-printed it on Neenah solar white.
  • Dies are PTI cover plate: angles (for the embossed kraft card base), PTI limitless layers: 1-3/4" circles (plain and pinked circles - retired), PTI seeing stars (retired), and Birch Press sugar script thanks.

Leaf Frame - Green with Purple

I added some leaves to the leaf frame to make a wreath.  Small punched dots on the inner corners make a nice accent.  The green and purple colors are reversed for the version below.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) vintage jadeite (lighter green), new leaf (deeper green), lilac grace (lighter purple), and amethyst allure (deeper purple).
  • The dots are punched with a very old 1/4" hole punch.
  • Dies are Altenew leaf frame cover, My Favorite Things (MFT) grande greenery - solid, and MFT hello.

Embossed Stars - Blue and Tan with Red

For the blue embossed stars, I tried a technique from Jennifer McGuire's blog, brayering a dark blue ink onto my embossing folder.  It worked fine, and I'm glad I tried it, but like most inky techniques for me, it was probably a one-time experiment.  Thank you, Jennifer, for all your information and inspiration!

I like the tan background with the same embossed stars, this time uninked.  A red border and crisp red sentiment add some energy.

Card details:

  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) blueberry sky (medium blue), pure poppy (red), and fine linen (tan).
  • Embossing folder is Darice stars asst (assorted).
  • I used PTI enchanted evening (dark blue) ink on the embossing folder.
  • The word "thanks" is cut with Silhouette Cameo, using Hobo Std font, same as this card.

Red Birds on Trees with Yellow

The stamped trees with die cut birds make a cheerful scene on light blue.  I don't often use a double mat, but here, the dark gray and red look good together.  I tried a red "thanks" instead of the dark gray, but it seemed to pull my eye away from the scene.

Card details:

  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) spring rain (light blue), pure poppy (red), smokey shadow (dark gray), and lemon tart (light yellow).
  • Patterned paper is from PTI blueberry sky (medium blue) pattern pack (tone-on-tone prints - retired).
  • Dies are Elizabeth Craft thanks and Impression Obsession small bird set
  • The birds' eyes are dots of Copic 0.3 black multiliner.
  • The tree image is from PTI through the trees (retiring), stamped with PTI smokey shadow ink.

Flowering Stems

Two cards with flowering stems, both the same except for the flower shapes.  I didn't intend to have dots at the bottom of the panel, but then I noticed a few tiny green smudges.  Adding some dots provided camouflage and made a nice grounding for my stems - better than what I had planned!  Love when that happens.

Card details:

  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) ripe avocado (dark green), summer sunrise (yellow-orange), and stamper's select white.
  • The left side of the white panel is edged with Copic marker R08.
  • The flowering stems are from My Favorite Things dandelion greenery, the little dots are from PTI corner adorner: January, and the sentiment "thank you" is from Heffy Doodle down the line sentiments, stamped with PTI simply chartreuse (medium green), summer sunrise, and terra cotta tile (rusty red) inks.

Red, Yellow, and Kraft with Gingham Ribbon

A cheerful mix with old-fashioned fabric elements and some very bright colors.  The pinked kraft panel with white quilt stenciling works well with the red gingham ribbon.

Yellow Butterfly with Blue Print

The same layout as this card, but with some different colors.  I like all the swirls in the butterfly wings, the patterned paper, and the sentiment font.

Card details:

  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) spring rain (light blue), harvest gold (yellow), and summer sunrise (yellow-orange).
  • Patterned paper is from PTI blueberry sky (medium blue) pattern pack (tone-on-tone prints - retired).
  • Embossing folder for the patterned paper is Stampin' Up subtle.
  • Dies are from PTI noted: simply stitched A2 rectangles and PTI life is beautiful (butterflies - retired).  I trimmed off the butterfly antennae for this card.  The solid and detailed dies layer perfectly, but I like them a bit offset sometimes.
  • The sentiment "thanks for all you've done" is from PTI gathered garden, stamped with PTI blueberry sky ink.
