Star Print with Tag

Almost red, white, and blue, but the tag is cream in real life, not white like my image.  The golden brown card base works beautifully with the star print's background.

Blue Leaf Print with Blue

Two blue cards featuring a soft blue leaf print.  In my image for the sympathy card, below, the colors look mismatched, but they coordinate beautifully in real life.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) enchanted evening (dark blue), blueberry sky (medium blue - above), sky shimmer (medium blue - below), stamper's select white, and Kaisercraft indigo skies windswept 12 x 12" print.
  • Embossing folder (below) is Lifestyle Crafts diamonds and dots.
  • The patterned paper (both cards) and the blueberry sky card stock (above) are embossed with the Dreamweaver faux cross-stitch stencil screen, as explained in this post.  On the card below, however, I embossed the back side of my paper, which made a canvas-like texture on the front, instead of the crisp design you see in the card above.
  • Die is from PTI double-ended banners.
  • The sentiments "thinking of you" and "with sympathy" are from PTI keep it simple: thinking of you and keep it simple: sympathy, stamped with PTI enchanted evening ink cube.
The thinking of you card (above) was created for Operation: Quiet Comfort.

A muted red, white, and blue with lots of circles and dots.  The layered rectangles and diagonally placed square provide some contrast.

  • I used Copic marker B14 to edge my tan and circle print pieces.
  • Embossing folder is Darice dot point.
  • The sentiment "thank you" is from PTI thank you kindly, stamped with PTI terra cotta tile ink cube.

Jar of Flowers - Purple and Green

Today's card is a mix of drawing, stamping, and Copic coloring.  Over the years, I've made quite a few cards with my flower drawings, but this is my first experiment of adding stamps to the mix.

I drew the stems, the flower and leaf outlines, and the dotted line for the table top.  I stamped the mason jar and sentiment in black, the solid flower shapes in purple, and the leaf cluster in a soft green. Then I used my Copic markers to color the stems, the yellow-green leaf details, the table, the jar, and the yellow and dark purple flower centers.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) amethyst allure (purple), green parakeet (bright yellow-green), and stamper's select white.
  • The sentiment "for you" is from PTI friendship jar flowers, and the jar is PTI just the jar: pint, stamped with PTI true black ink cube.
  • The solid flower and leaf stamps are from PTI gathered garden, stamped with PTI amethyst allure and vintage jadeite (soft green) ink cubes.
  • I used a black 0.2 Copic multiliner for my drawing.  I scanned my line drawing only (without any stamping or coloring) for computer printing.
  • Copic markers are custom color B2000, E33, YG23, YG05, Y15, and V17.
  • As a last step before assembling the card, I embossed the white card stock from the back with a Dreamweaver faux cross-stitch stencil screen, as explained in this post.  By embossing on the back, it leaves a nice texture on the front, instead of a sharp criss-cross pattern.  In my image, the texture is mostly seen in the colored areas, but in real life, it shows up well on the white areas, too.

Yellow and Orange Diagonal Stripes with Teal

A few bright diagonal stripes create today's sunshine theme.  A 2-part sentiment and a layered sun shape form a visual triangle to focus the card.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) lemon tart (light yellow), orange zest, summer sunrise (yellow-orange), tropical teal, and bitty dot prints from PTI orange zest, harvest gold (medium yellow), and summer sunrise pattern packs (retired).
  • Dies are PTI flower fusion #9 (large orange shape), ad sense (medium yellow-orange shape), and star gazer (small orange shape).
  • The sentiment "sending you sunshine" is from PTI hello sunshine, stamped with PTI orange zest ink cubes.

Navy Hello with Branches on Light Green

A simple layout with simple colors.  Almost monochromatic, with the dark purplish navy color playing as a neutral.  I like the graceful lines of the branches and "hello" word with the narrow dark mat and the dragonfly accent.  The uneven light green stripes make a serene background for the scene.

Teal and White Stars on Text Background

For the Papertrey Ink "Create Along with Us" July challenge, I chose the first project in this post by Nichole Heady as my starting point.  As she explained it, "Stamp any kind of text or sentiments and then add a bold clear embossed image on top.  Follow this with sponging with the same ink color you used for stamped text."

I like the results on my card today, and I'll try this technique again sometime.  Thank you, Nichole, for your inspiration!

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) tropical teal, stamper's select white, and a striped print from PTI pure poppy (red) "+ white basics" patterned paper (retired).
  • Dies are PTI seeing stars (medium and small sizes) and stitched rectangles.
  • The sentiment "thank you" is from PTI fill in the blank, stamped with PTI tropical teal and pure poppy ink cubes
  • The stamped stars are all from PTI military stars (retired).  I used the backs of three stamps for my large stars, which are stamped with Versamark, then clear heat embossed.  The small star under the red sentiment is stamped with PTI Hawaiian shores (medium turquoise) ink cube.
  • After heat embossing my three large stars, I added a turquoise background with PTI Hawaiian Shores ink cube, using an e.l.f total face brush to apply the ink.

Orange and Yellow Stripes with Circles

Happy and bright, with summery prints and a layered sun circle.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Neenah solar white, Papertrey Ink (PTI) orange zest, harvest gold (yellow),  the leaf print from PTI harvest gold pattern pack (retired), and a striped paper that I created using PowerPoint.
  • Dies are PTI sketched shapes (white banner), PTI hello sunshine (orange 1-1/4" circle), WeRMemoryKeepers nesting circles (yellow 1" circle), and Avery Elle icon fill in the blank (asterisk).
  • I used an old 1/4" hole punch for the yellow center dot.
  • The orange banner is notched with scissors, and then I slightly rounded the banner tips with scalloped scissors.
  • The sentiment "sending you sunshine" is from PTI hello sunshine, stamped with PTI orange zest ink cube
  • Technique: For this card, the sentiment needed a bolder font, so I stamped it using the MISTI, then shifted my banner just a tiny bit to the right, and stamped again.
