Geometrics with Burgundy and Lime

A collection of geometric shapes - circle, star, square, rectangle - in strong colors.  It makes me smile.  And it used up some scraps, which also makes me smile!

I made two more like this, but with a horizontal striped background - one in raspberry (PTI raspberry fizz) and one in orangey brown (PTI canyon clay) - using those colors for the sentiment and the center star's dot.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) scarlet jewel (burgundy), limeade ice, enchanted evening (dark blue), stamper's select white, and the gingham print from PTI scarlet jewel pattern pack.
  • Embossing folder is The Paper Studio tiny stars.
  • Dies are PTI double-ended banner and cover plate: stars.
  • The zigzag strip is from Doodlebug paper frills, lily white, discontinued.
  • Small dots are punched with my very old 1/4" hole punch.
  • The sentiment "hello" is from PTI winter woods, stamped with PTI scarlet jewel ink cube.

Teal Birds with Lime Green Tree

Teal birds add energy to my tree scene.  The shape for the tree top was a happy accident - it's the inner scrap piece from yesterday's wreath card.  I love the wind-blown look of the uneven circle edge.  After I curved the outer limbs up a little, the tree trunk fit beautifully.

Lime Green Wreath with Blue

A die cut wreath and a stamped wreath in a pierced circle on a dotted panel.  And a dotted line adding a bit of a lime green accent to the blue sentiment.

All the dots, circles, and wreaths work nicely together, and I love that intense lime green color with the muted blues.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) limeade ice, blueberry sky (medium blue), enchanted evening (dark blue), stamper's select white, and the bitty dot print from PTI enchanted evening pattern pack.
  • Dies are PTI rustic wreath, PTI stitched circles (2nd largest in set), and 2-3/8" circle from Spellbinders standard circles large.  The 2-3/8" circle, which is actually a bit scant, trimmed off the outer border of my stamped wreath, but 2-1/2" looked too big with the die cut wreath.
  • The dark blue berries are punched with a very old 1/4" circle punch.
  • The stamped wreath and sentiment "thankful for you" are from PTI think big favorites #19, stamped with PTI blueberry sky and enchanted evening ink cubes.  The dotted line is from PTI limitless layers: labels, stamped with PTI limeade ice ink cube.

Birds and Vine with Trees

Rusty red birds and vine accent the kraft brown trees on a pale orange print background.  The narrow outer frame adds a nice finish.  Monochromatic (counting kraft as a neutral) but colorful.

Green Tree with Sunny Sky and Butterflies

A happy, playful scene with a green tree and lawn, bright butterflies, and a sunny blue striped sky.  The leaf-embossed rounded rectangle makes a lovely tree top with my tan tree trunk, which was a scrap from this card.  I do enjoy putting my leftovers to good use!

Note: the gray border is background, not part of the card.

Stars - Green with Aqua and Silver

Soft and simple with lots of texture.  I used several ink colors to sponge the stars, and though the overall effect is green, there's nice variation in the color.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) aqua mist, green parakeet, ocean tides (muted teal), and vintage cream.
  • Stencil is Crafter's Workshop mini random stars.
  • The stars are embossed with the stencil.
  • The green card stock is embossed with the Dreamweaver faux cross-stitch stencil screen, as explained in this post.
  • Thread is DMC argent (silver) metallic embroidery thread.
  • The stars are sponged with PTI spring rain (light blue), vintage jadeite (medium green), and bright buttercup (yellow) ink cubes.
  • The sentiment "hello" is from PTI winter woods, stamped with PTI ocean tides ink cube.

Red, White, and Blue Stars with White

I layered a red, white, and blue print behind my white star die cut, creating a random pattern effect for  the star shapes.  The red stripe (card stock) makes a strong focal point with the white and blue banner.  Simple but eye catching.

Note: the gray is background, not part of the card.

Gray with Rusty Orange - Stars and Triangles

Using a leftover starry strip from yesterday's card, I added a block of triangle pattern, along with gray and rusty orange card stock, for a more industrial, graphic style.  It's fun to try different looks with a common element.  I like the rusty orange strip that separates the two patterns, and the dotted triangle that points to the sentiment.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) stormy sea (bluish gray), canyon clay (rusty orange / orangey brown), vintage cream, and two prints from Simple Stories so rad 6x6" paper pad.
  • Dies are PTI heart-2-heart #5 (triangle) and Elizabeth Craft hello.
  • The cream dot is punched with EK Success 3/16" circle punch.

Star Print with Orange, Yellow, and More

A piece of starry paper set the color scheme for my card.  Five colors plus cream, but some colors are accents, and not all the same materials (ink, card stock, and embroidery floss), so overall it doesn't look too busy.  Lots of texture and variety with vertical, horizontal, and diagonal elements to contrast with the printed circles and stars.

Another Green and Copper Tree with Tan

After making this card, I had a leftover tan die cut, which I used for a very simple tree card.   Simple but lovely, especially in real life where you see the shimmer of the inlaid copper trunk.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) fine linen (tan), ripe avocado (green), copper shimmer, and the damask print from PTI ripe avocado pattern pack.
  • Dies are Elizabeth Craft thanks and PTI cover plate: mighty oak
  • The trunk is inlaid.  The leaves are one piece of damask paper behind the die cut openings.

Green and Copper Tree with Tan

In our monthly papercrafting group, I made this beautiful green and copper inked background.  (Thank you, Judy!)  It's on a transparency sheet, with the ink applied on the back, making a very smooth and shiny "right side."  Very lovely as the trunk and leaves behind my diecut tan tree.  So sparkly and reflective in real life.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) fine linen (tan) and new leaf (green).  The new leaf "hello" looked a bit too bright for the card, so I grayed it slightly with G24 Copic marker.
  • The multicolored background is made with Ranger alcohol inks and Copic reinkers, using the Ranger felt applicator, plus some copper Stickles.  All on a transparency sheet.  The glitter is completely sealed behind the transparency, so none can rub off.
  • Dies are PTI cover plate: mighty oak and Savvy Stamps hello.
