Star Print with Kraft

A simple design, just a block of patterned paper with a wide dark border.  I like how the font of "thanks" echoes the engraved style of the star print. 

 Card details:

• Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) terra cotta tile (rusty red), dark indigo (dark navy), and fine linen (tan). 
• Patterned paper is Authentique liberty three 12 x 12", from the "free" table at our monthly card maker's group. 
• The sentiment "sending sincere thanks" is from PTI never enough thanks (retired), stamped with PTI dark indigo ink.

Wreath Circles on Diagonal Bands

Two cards with the same design - a wreath circle on a diagonal band - but very different color schemes.  In the first card, bright pink leaf accents are stamped onto the yellow polka dot patterned paper.  The second card has quieter colors, with silver thread to add a bit of shine.  

Card details:

• Card stock is Paper Source pool (aqua) and Papertrey Ink (PTI) new leaf (green) and stamper's select white. 
• Patterned paper is from PTI bright buttercup (yellow) "+ white basics" patterned paper (retired) and from PTI winter wisteria (lavender) pattern pack (tone-on-tone prints - retired). 
• Embossing folder for the second card is Stampin' Up subtle (retired).
• Thread is DMC silver metallic.
  
• Die is from PTI limitless layers - 1-3/4" circles (retired). 
• The sentiment "thank you" is from PTI friendship jar flowers (retired), stamped with PTI new leaf ink, and the sentiment "with deepest sympathy" is from PTI little labels (retired), stamped with PTI ocean tides (muted teal) ink.  
• The wreath and small leaflets are from PTI tag-its #12 (retired), stamped with PTI raspberry fizz (bright pink) or PTI amethyst allure and royal velvet inks (medium and deep purple).

Autumn Blessings Tree

A bright monochromatic card.  All the leaves are on one stamp, and I used two inks for some natural color variation, which shows up better in real life.  

I'll mail it later in the fall as an encouragement card for some of our church members.

• Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) melon berry (light orange) and terra cotta tile (rusty red). 
• Dies is from PTI noted: simply stitched A2 vertical.
• The sentiment "autumn blessings" is from PTI sunflower bouquet (retired), and the tree is from PTI through the trees (retired), stamped with PTI dark chocolate (brown), orange zest, and terra cotta tile inks.

Brown and Aqua Print with Rickrack

A very simple layout with some aqua and bright turquoise.  The brown and aqua dotted print adds visual texture and grounds the aqua die cuts.  I'll call this one monochromatic, with brown as the neutral.

Bright Flowers

Bright flowers for late summer cheer, a design that I've used before.  It was fun to do some coloring for this set of cards.

• Card stock is Neenah solar white and Papertrey Ink (PTI) green parakeet and true black. 
• Patterned paper is from PTI summer sunrise (yellow-orange) pattern pack (tone-on-tone prints - retired).

Butterfly on Light Blue

A light blue print with lacy blue die cuts - butterfly, edging, and script sentiment - for a simple sympathy card.

Browns and Cream on Rustic Red - Four Cards

I had some die cut shapes in kraft prints, scraps or leftovers from other cards, and decided to use them up with four similar designs.  I like all of them.

Card details:

• Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) Americana (rustic red), dark chocolate (brown), and vintage cream. 
• Patterned paper is from PTI classic kraft pattern pack (tone-on-tone prints - retired).
  
• Embossing folder is Darice honeycomb.  I used the debossed side of the card stock.
• The sentiment banner die is from PTI double-ended banners.
  
• The sentiment "thinking of you" is from PTI take three: spring (retired), and the leaves are from PTI out on a limb revised (retired), stamped with PTI dark chocolate and Americana inks.

Sunshine with Aqua and Brown

I liked the diagonal layout of this card from last month, so I tried it with some polka-dotted paper.  Very simple with a bright "sunshine" word, sun, bird, and bow. 

Card details:

• Card stock is Hero Arts cerulean (turquoise) layering paper, Stampin' Up soft sky (light aqua), and Papertrey Ink (PTI) sun shimmer (yellow) and dark chocolate (brown). 
• Patterned paper is from Pink & Main pumpkin spice 6 x 6" pad (retired).
• Dies are from PTI heart-2-heart #9 (bird), PTI flower fusion #9 (sun - retired), and Frantic Stamper sunshine.
  
• I used a Martha Stewart punch for the bow.  
• I added the bird's eye with a brown Micron pen.

Ice Cream Cone with Pink and Blue

My summery card started with the red, white, and blue popsicle print.  I picked up the pink/ light red and the darker blue colors for my card base and sentiment panel.  A chocolate ice cream cone added to the sweet treats.  I'll mail it in late July as an encouragement card for some of our church members.

• Card stock is Paper Source strawberry (dark pink/ light red) and Papertrey Ink (PTI) sky shimmer (blue) and dark chocolate (brown) 
• Patterned papers are the popsicle print from My Favorite Things stars and stripes 6x6" pad (retired) and the kraft print from PTI text style 2009 bitty dot basics 8x8" pad (retired).
  
• Die is PTI sweet as can be (ice cream cone - retired).
  
• The sentiment "sending smiles" is from Hero Arts sending smiles, stamped with PTI winter wisteria (light purple) and blueberry sky (blue) inks to match the patterned paper.

A simple design with energy from its strong colors and diagonal layout.

Floral Stems - Pink with Cream

Some delicate floral stems, stamped on cream card stock.  I added some embossed texture after stamping.

• Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) autumn rose and vintage cream. 
• Embossing folder is Stampin' Up subtle (retired).
• The sentiment "thinking of you" is from PTI little labels (retired), and the stems are from PTI life (retired) and larger than life (retired), stamped with PTI vintage jadeite (green), classic kraft, and raspberry fizz inks.  On each stamp I used kraft ink, plus either green or raspberry ink.

Turquoise Print on Dark Navy

With such a dark navy for a neutral, I'll call this card monochromatic.  The bright white banner with a cursive sentiment makes a good focal point.  

I punched out the star from the diamond print (the hole is covered by the white banner), because my solid turquoise card stock colors didn't look right with the print.

Blue with Red Circles

A card-making friend gave me her extra set of postage stamp dies (thanks, Laura!), and I enjoyed using one for this bright design.

Cream Oval with Gray and Rusty Red

To me, an oval shape brings a more formal look to a card design.  I continued a formal and elegant style with the gray with cream, the damask print, and the flowing script sentiment font.  The deep rusty red adds some bold brightness.  I like the dotted gray lines to ground the sentiment on the large oval label shape.

Aqua Plaid with Red Dots and Teal

A bright card in a graphic style.  The embossing folder's dots and lines work well with the plaid patterned paper and the dotted die cut.  My small sentiment banner fits nicely over a few of the cutout diamonds.

A muted red, white, and blue star print, with a large tan hexagon for the stamped sentiment.

A layered butterfly and a lacy doily.  The purple, yellow, and cream make an elegant color combination for a friend's birthday card.

Another card with purple today.  I like the contrast of the plaid card base with the curving wreath and sentiment font.
