Green Vines with Tan - Missing You

Leafy vines frame a large sentiment banner.  It has a monochromatic feeling, with tan as the neutral.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) ripe avocado (green), fine linen (tan), and the stripes print from PTI fine linen pattern pack.
  • Stamps are from PTI turning a new leaf with coordinating dies.  I used PTI ripe avocado ink.
  • Banner is notched with scissors.
  • Sentiment "Missing You" is cut with Silhouette Cameo, using my file from this card.  The fine linen positive cut is inlaid into a ripe avocado negative cut.  I'll use the other "opposite" pieces for a different card sometime.

Cream with Rust and Green

Interwoven layers of texture and pattern with straight lines and curves.  It has a depth and richness that holds my eye.  Note: the gray is background, not part of the card.

Edited July 23, 2015 to add: Click here for a soft gray and blue version of this card design.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) terra cotta tile (a rusty color - not as red as my image), rustic cream, and polka dot and damask prints from PTI fine linen (tan) and ripe avocado (green) pattern packs.
  • Dies are PTI my mother, my friend (part of the vine) and double-ended banners.
  • Corner rounder is 1/4" corner chomper by Crop-a-Dile.
  • Embossing folders are Stampin' Up square lattice (placed diagonally) (retired) and The Paper Studio script (retired).
  • The sentiment "miss you" is from Stampabilities everyday expressions, stamped with PTI ripe avocado ink cube.

Red Apple with Stripes and Green

Such a happy card with all the different stripes and a bright red apple.  It makes me smile! and I hope it will do the same for a deployed hero and a loved one back home.

When I was working on the design, I found that adding the narrow green strip under "hello" had a big impact to ground the focal point and give definition to the multicolor stripes.

Leafy Branch - Teal and Clay

I do like this card!  Curves in the branch with leafy print and a script sentiment, straight lines of striped paper with a teal edge and a line of tiny holes.  The clay background color contrasts well with the teal and aqua.

City Skyline - Browns with Aqua

As my husband said, it's a panorama with fog and a cloudy sky.  There's a touch of mystery, maybe even melancholy, in my city skyline scene.  I like it with the "missing you" sentiment.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Hero Arts layering paper - earth - mocha (brown), aqua mist (light aqua) polka dot and ocean tides (muted teal) bitty dots from PTI pattern packs, and a plaid print from Pink Paislee portfolio 6x6" paper collection.
  • Dies are My Favorite Things skyline border and PTI stitching lines (2nd longest die - for the horizontal line of holes below the buildings.)
  • The sentiment "missing you" is from PTI fillable frames #2, stamped with PTI aqua mist ink cube.

Hello with Stars - Yellow, Gold, and Green

A nice variety of gold and yellow patterns and textures - printed paper, chevron-weave ribbon, and starry embossing - set off with dark green.  I like how all the different elements go together.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Paper Source curry (gold), Papertrey Ink (PTI) lemon tart (light yellow), pinefeather (dark green), and a yellow print from Echo Park "all about a boy" 6x6" pad.
  • Dies are PTI framed out #10 (inner oval) and Elizabeth Craft hello.
  • Ribbon is unknown - probably by May Arts.
  • Green stars are punched with 1/4" Fiskars hand punch.
  • Embossing folder is Darice stars asst. [assorted]

Pink and White Flower Hello with Green

A pink and flowery card, with bright white and green for contrast.  I like the crisp look of the white accents with the dark pink.

For Operation Write Home, I try not to make too many floral and feminine cards, which they get a lot of.  Sometimes though, it just feels like I need to create one.  For a gender-neutral card with this layout, click here

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) stamper's select white, limeade ice (green), hibiscus burst (deep pink), and the leaf print from PTI sweet blush (light pink) pattern pack.
  • The diagonal white flower strip is a precut Doodlebug paper frill in lily white (retired).   It's layered on a plain strip of PTI hibiscus burst.
  • I edged the top and bottom edges of the leaf print paper with Copic marker RV32.
  • Dies are PTI wonderful words: hello, heart-2-heart #12 (leaflet), and heart-2-heart #7 (the smaller of the two flower dies).
  • Flower center is a 1/4" circle from a very old office-supply hand punch.

Red Lattice with Blues

Some monochromatic blues with bright red for contrast.  In real life, the blues go nicely together.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Paper Source pool (aqua), Papertrey Ink (PTI) pure poppy (red) and enchanted evening (dark blue), a stripes print from PTI enchanted evening pattern pack, and a print from Echo Park "all about a boy" 6x6" pad.
  • Die is Poppystamps lattice edge.
  • Banners are notched with scissors.
  • The "thanks" word is cut with Silhouette Cameo, the same as this card.

Hello with Gingham and Calico Swatches

Something different for me - gingham and calico print swatches with dotted accents.  A cozy "country" feeling.  I like it.
