Leafy Greens with Cream

My first try with a new stamp set.  I will enjoy working with it.  This time I wanted to use a leftover card base, which set my color scheme for the image and sentiment.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) spring moss (light green), ripe avocado (dark green), vintage cream, and the bitty dot print from PTI simply chartreuse (medium green) pattern pack.
  • The sentiment "thinking of you" is from PTI keep it simple: thinking of you, stamped with PTI simply chartreuse ink cube.
  • The leafy frame is from PTI splits: thank you, stamped with Memento tuxedo black ink, and colored with Copic markers YG03, 21, 23, 91, and 95.
  • The cream shape is cut with scissors.

Brown Stenciled Blocks with Mug

Brown and tan colors with a touch of gold.  I used the stencil to emboss the background and then add color with sponging.  The die cut asterisk works well as an accent for the mug, and I used a Copic marker to add the dark brown details.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Neenah solar white and Papertrey Ink (PTI) canyon clay (orange-brown), dark chocolate (brown), fine linen (tan), and luxe gold.
  • Stencil is from PTI modern background collection.  See this post for my embossing sandwich and warnings.  I used PTI dark chocolate, canyon clay, and classic kraft ink cubes for my sponging.
  • Note:  when the card stock is embossed first before sponging, the raised areas help to hold the stencil in place, and also a soft touch is needed to glide the inky sponge over the surface without getting too dark.
  • Dies are PTI warm happiness (mug) and the asterisk from block alphabet numbers.  I layered a partial die cut under the top half of the mug to keep it raised up above the sentiment strip.
  • Mug details are drawn with Copic 0.3 brown multiliner and colored with E29 marker.
  • The sentiment "sending a warm hello" is computer printed with orange-brown ink and a brown outline, using Hobo Std font

Turquoise Star with Red and Kraft

A framed star on wood grain background, with an accent strip of red circles.  Nice textures and contrast.  In real life, the "thank you" sentiment is easier to read.

Purple Stripes with Butterflies

Stripes in a frame with butterflies and a script hello.  The diagonal word breaks up the blocky look.  I like the centered straight lines mixed with the off-center curves.

Sponged Sun with Blue Accents

Something very different for me - a sponged sun filling almost all of my card front.  It's for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday challenge for ink blending through diecut masks.  I cut a single triangle in the middle of an A2 piece of vellum, then used it to sponge and blend the rays in three colors of yellow ink.  The pinked circle was also sponged and blended.

It was interesting to try this technique as I'm still a beginner at sponging and blending.  I like the bold yellow sun shape with the accents in blue.

Red, Blue, and Tan with Squares

Red, navy blue and tan squares with a striped print.  The diagonal stripes and the varying squares - some open, some filled with blue - keep the design from looking too static.

  • Embossing folder is Darice plaid.
