White Flowers on Kraft

Love the bright white daisy flowers on kraft, with a yellow starburst above the diamond patterned rectangle.  The sentiment fits nicely in the negative space between.

Leaves on Dry Brushed Blue and Green

After experimenting with a drybrushing technique, I used my samples to make a few cards.  I tried several colors for the card base, and the gray was my unexpected favorite.  In real life, the dry brush texture is lovely, and the green ink matches the die cut leaf. 

Card details:

• Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) weathervane (gray), blueberry sky (blue), simply chartreuse (green), and stamper's select white. 
• I embossed the white card stock with the Dreamweaver faux cross-stitch stencil screen, as explained in this post.  Then, on the back of the embossed panel, I dry brushed with PTI blueberry sky and simply chartreuse inks, diluted with water, using a wide, rough-textured natural bristle brush by Plaid.
• Twine is shore (light blue) stripe from The Twinery.
• Dies are from PTI noted: pinked A2 vertical and turning a new leaf.
• The "thanks" word is cut with Silhouette Cameo, using the Hobo Std font, same as this card.

Triangle Print with Banner

Clean and crisp with navy, green, and white.  The curved font of the word die works beautifully with the lines and angles of the banner, triangle print, and card layout.

Tree Branches with Green

These long, graceful branches are a beautiful fit for my long white panel, a scrap left over from another project.  The narrow brown edging frames it against the textured green background.

• Embossing folder is Darice diagonal stripe background. 
• The white panel is edged with Copic marker E37.

Inked Embossing: Aqua and Green Leaves

Peaceful blues and greens.  I like the crisp diagonal stripes with the softer blend of the leaf panel.

Note: the gray border is background, not part of the card.

Card details:

• Card stock is Paper Source lake (blue) and Papertrey Ink (PTI) aqua mist and stamper's select white.
• Patterned paper is the diagonal stripe print from PTI mint julep (light green) "+ white basics" patterned paper (retired).
• Embossing folder is Elizabeth Craft spring leaves (retired).  After embossing the aqua panel, I lightly rubbed the raised surface with PTI vintage jadeite (medium green), green parakeet (bright yellow green), and spring rain (light blue) ink cubes (applying the ink cube surface directly to the card stock.)  I kept my ink coverage spotty to create a variegated effect, but as the last step, I went over everything with a lighter green color (mint julep) to soften some of my ink edges.
• A friend gave me some of her fuzzy blue twine - perfect for this card.  Thanks, Judy!
• Die is from PTI fabulous frames.
• The sentiment "just because" is from Hero Arts many everyday messages, stamped with PTI enchanted evening (dark blue) ink cube.

Inked Embossing: Yellow Flowers with Orange and Brown

A beautiful bright card.  The inked embossing, curved banner, and knotted twine provide lots of texture and visual interest within the monochromatic color scheme.

Card details:

• Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) lemon tart (light yellow), cocoa bean (brown), and stamper's select white.
• Patterned paper is the bitty dot print from PTI orange zest pattern pack (tone-on-tone prints - retired).
• Embossing folder is by Sizzix - name unknown.  After embossing, I lightly rubbed the raised surface with PTI harvest gold (medium yellow), summer sunrise (yellow-orange), orange zest, and honey nut (golden brown) ink cubes (applying the ink cube surface directly to the card stock.)  I kept my ink coverage spotty to create a variegated effect, but as the last step, I went over everything with the lightest color (harvest gold) to soften some of my ink edges.

Butterfly with Foil Dots

Shimmery and shiny - the dark dots and frame line are actually a bright metallic silver foil.  I like the simple, graceful shapes of the word and the butterfly against the symmetrical patterned background.  The angled line of embroidery floss adds a bit of movement.

Red Dot Grid with White and Dark Gray

A bold and graphic monochromatic card.  When I started my design, it was just the "hello" and a longer (5-1/2") strip of eyelet lace on the red patterned paper, all set parallel to the dark gray card base.  The effect was static and dull.  So I angled the elements, shortened the eyelet strip, and added the small wavy flag shape, and it made all the difference.

Two Red, White, and Blue Thank You Cards

I started to make one card design with both the stamped tag and the chevron patterned paper, but it just wasn't working for me.  So I split up my pieces and made two designs.  Not what I was aiming for, but I do like the tag and also the embossed lines on the gray card, and I'll use those ideas again sometime.

Note: On the tag card, the gray border is background, not part of the card.

Sunflower Circles with Blue

I've been making lots of sunshine cards lately, and I found another sunny opportunity in the circles trio for this week's challenge (fall to layout #73) on the Clean & Simple Stamping blog.  Usually I would have made my circles larger, to show the entire flower image, but I like the cropped, off-center results using the size in the sketch.  Thank you, Natasha, for inspiring my card!

This card will be one of my favorites.  Love the color scheme (taken from the patterned paper) and the simple layout.
