Dotted Orange with Teal and White Scallops

Bright contrasting colors with dots and scallops.  I like the sun-shaped embellishment, which turns the card into a bit of a sunny landscape scene with a line of white clouds.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) orange zest and tropical teal.
  • Patterned paper is from PTI orange zest pattern pack (tone-on-tone prints - retired).
  • Dies are PTI edgers #3 and PTI ad sense (sun).  I used an EK Tools 3/16" circle punch for the teal center dot, which I inlaid into the sun shape.
  • The scallop-edged white strip is from Doodlebug paper frills, lily white, discontinued.
  • The sentiment "just a note to say hello" is from PTI banner sentiments (retired), stamped with PTI tropical teal ink.

Lavender Print with Green and Purple

These lavender, purple, and green colors are rich and elegant together.  I like the small purple flowers stamped with the sentiment - the same shape as the print's flowers.  The embossed background texture adds a lot to the card's overall look.

Green Branches with Dark Blue

I would typically choose softer colors to make sympathy cards, but I'm glad I tried this mix of bright green with dark blue.  Serene and simple.  I like the touches of blue along the green stems.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) new leaf (green) and stamper's select white.
  • Patterned paper is from PTI enchanted evening (dark blue) pattern pack (tone-on-tone prints - retired).
  • The branches are from PTI turning a new leaf, and the sentiment "with sympathy" is from PTI communique sentiments (retired), stamped with PTI new leaf and enchanted evening inks.

Floral Print with Rusty Red - Grateful

A floral print that I wouldn't have chosen - given to me by a friend - and I enjoyed using it with some deep rusty red and a touch of gray.  Thanks, Vicki, for stretching my color choices!

Card details:
  • Card stock is Neenah solar white and Papertrey Ink (PTI) terra cotta tile (rusty red - a bit more orange in real life).
  • Patterned paper is from Craft Smith flower market 12 x 12" collection.
  • Die is from PTI counting my blessings.  The banner is cut with Silhouette Cameo.
  • The sentiment "for all that you do" is from PTI polka dot parade #6 (retired), stamped with PTI weathervane (gray) ink.

Notebook Thank You - Red, White, and Blue

A whimsical notebook page with a serious Fourth of July sentiment - I'm very thankful for our country's freedoms and for the heroes who protect us.

I like the "hand drawn" style of the sentiment and doodle stamps for my notebook effect.  The angled red layers add to the picture of a just-written note.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Neenah solar white and Papertrey Ink (PTI) pure poppy (red).
  • Patterned papers are the polka dot print from PTI blueberry sky (medium blue) bitty big pattern pack and two of my computer-printed patterns - red, white, and blue stripes, and a light aqua grid for the notebook page, both printed on Neenah.  The notebook grid is barely visible in my image, but just right in real life.
  • Die is from PTI ink it in: notebook.
  • The flowers/leaves and the sentiment "thank you" are from Hero Arts everyday sayings, the triple dot is from PTI counting my blessings, and the squiggly line is from PTI pencilgrams, stamped with PTI enchanted evening (dark blue) and pure poppy inks.
  • The flower centers are colored with Copic 0.3 red and cobalt (dark blue) multiliners.

Landscape on Blue Stripes

A lovely stamped scene with grasses in green and purple, and dry-brushed strips of blue and tan for the ground and sky.  It works well with the peaceful script sentiment.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) plum pudding (muted purple) and stamper's select white.
  • Patterned paper is from PTI blueberry sky (blue) pattern pack (tone-on-tone prints - retired).
  • The images and the sentiment "May peace fill your soul this day." are from PTI peaceful garden (retired), stamped with PTI new leaf (green) and amethyst allure (purple) inks.
  • I masked the top and bottom of the white panel, then used a small brush (the larger one from a Perfect Pearls brush set) to add the tan and blue strips with PTI classic kraft and blueberry sky inks.  I was able to get a softer, smoother look for the sky, but I also like the rough, breezy effect on this example.

Muted Teal Wreath with Gray

One of my favorite layouts - I call it "medallion band" - in monochromatic colors.  The new-to-me wreath stamp's pattern matches the printed leaf pattern on the band.  In real life, the sentiment contrasts a bit more with the wreath color.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) pinefeather (dark green), soft stone (light gray), and stamper's select white.
  • Patterned paper is from PTI ocean tides (muted teal) pattern pack (tone-on-tone prints - retired).
  • Dies are from PTI two toned (2" plain circle) and Spellbinders big scalloped circles large (2-1/2" scalloped circle).
  • The sentiment "thinking of you" is from PTI stuck on you, and the wreath is from PTI tag-its #12 (retired), stamped with PTI ocean tides and pinefeather inks.

Diagonal Stripes on Green with Cream

A very simple layout, made interesting with bold colors, texture, and pattern.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) terra cotta tile (rusty red), dark chocolate (brown), prairie grass (muted green), and vintage cream.
  • Embossing folder is The Paper Studio woodgrain (retired).
  • Die is the large wide banner from PTI sketched shapes.
  • The striped background is The Stamp Market diagonal pinstripe, stamped with PTI canyon clay (orangey brown) ink.  The stamped color surprised me by matching the (much redder) terra cotta tile card stock, instead of the canyon clay card stock, when stamped onto prairie grass card stock.  Color layering is always an adventure!
  • The sentiment "just for you" is from Stampabilities card phrases, and the distressed star is from PTI military stars (retired), stamped with PTI dark chocolate and prairie grass ink, then restamped with Versamark and clear heat embossed.

Stamping this raspberry floral design brought some bright color to a gray rainy day.  I hope it will bring some cheer to the recipient, too!

Red, White, and Blue Patterns with Starry Label

A patriotic color combination with a mix of straight lines and curves.  The bold sentiment, dots, and zigzag pattern are calmed by the label's starry light blue stamping and the light blue strip of card stock.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Papertrey Ink (PTI) spring rain (light blue) and stamper's select white (a bright white in real life).
  • Patterned paper is bitty dot print from PTI pure poppy (red) "+ white basics" patterned paper (retired) and zigzag print from Doodlebug patriotic picnic 6x6" paper pad.
  • Label die is from PTI fabulous frames.
  • The sentiment "thank you so much" is from PTI thank you kindly (retired), and the starry background is from PTI bitty background blocks II (retired), stamped with PTI pure poppy and spring rain ink.

Yellow Floral on Kraft with Brown and Cream

For a friend who loves antiques, a vintage style card with a floral design in yellow, her favorite color.

Card details:
  • Card stock is Neenah desert storm (kraft) and Papertrey Ink (PTI) cocoa bean (brown) and rustic cream.
  • Embossing folder is The Paper Studio script (retired).
  • Twine is gold Treasure Braid TR63.  To keep it from slipping, I notched the edges of the card stock with a 1/8" hole punch.
  • Dies are from PTI noted: simply stitched A2 vertical and noted: pinked A2 vertical.
  • The sentiment "happy birthday" is from PTI keep it simple: birthday, and the image is from PTI in bloom, stamped with Memento rich cocoa (brown) ink.
  • I colored the flower and leaves with Copic markers YG05, G14, G40, Y15, Y19, Y38, and YR15 and some very old Venus Spectracolor pencils in canary yellow and yellow-orange.

Patchwork Print with Yellow Chevron Ribbon

Starting from the multicolored patchwork print, I chose a few colors and accents to build a bit of a quilting theme.  I like the strip of wide chevron ribbon and the faux stitching edge detail.  It's a cheerful, summery design that I'll send to our church shut-ins.
