Floral on Gray with Gingham and Dot Prints

My second card with Papertrey Ink's new color pop florals kit, this time sponging the kit's preprinted light gray paper with the stencils and adding stamps for detail. I really like the colorful floral print I made, though I could have lined up my stencils better to avoid the white showing. But especially with a white banner, I like the white touches.

My floral design looks very nice with two pattern swatches on a medium gray background. I tried some different ideas for texture on my card base, but simple looked best to me. Next time I'll aim for a soft effect, with lighter sponging on plain white card stock.

Card details:

Card stock is Ellen Hutson white linen, Papertrey Ink (PTI) stormy sea (medium gray), and the bitty dot and gingham prints from PTI enchanted evening (dark blue) and terra cotta tile (deep rusty orange) pattern packs.
Die is the long wide banner from PTI sketched shapes.
The floral design is sponged with a round ink blender and PTI color pop florals stencils, using autumn rose, blueberry sky (medium blue), and new leaf (medium green) ink cubes.
The flower details are from PTI color pop florals and a solid 5/8" circle from bits & buttons, stamped with pinefeather (dark green), tropical teal, pure poppy (red), terra cotta tile, and summer sunrise (yellow) ink cubes.
The sentiment "thinking of you" is from PTI keep it simple: thinking of you, stamped with PTI stormy sea ink cube.

Operation: Quiet Comfort

Starting in early 2016, most of my cards are now made for Operation: Quiet Comfort.
As explained on their web site, "Operation Quiet Comfort exists solely for the purpose of honoring and comforting America’s military men and women who become sick and injured while serving in harm’s way. We also provide support to those who care for them. We collect, package and ship supplies for U.S. Military men and women receiving care at medical facilities abroad." These packages also include cards with messages of support and encouragement ... "thinking of you, patriotic, thank you, cheerful cards." I'm happy to have the opportunity to support our troops in this way.

About My Cards and My Blog

Unless noted otherwise, all my cards are A2 size - 4.25 x 5.5" when folded.

I was making cards long before I started stamping, so for my card images, I sometimes will do my own line drawing, then color it with markers. To use it multiple times, I scan it before coloring, then computer-print it. For more on my drawing process, see "How I Draw," and also "Anybody Can Draw."

I use Copic markers (I prefer "original" and also have some of the "sketch" type), Copic multiliner pens, and the Copic airbrush (airbrushing with my markers). See "About My Tools and Materials" for my Copic colors and other tools, materials, supplies and sources. Techniques and materials may also be noted in the blog post.

I will post a few times a month, whenever I have a new card to share. For cards before 2012, the date on the post is the approximate date of the card, not always the posting date. Reference posts like "About My Labels" are filed together as 1973, but are much newer.
